Is Alimony a State law in Colorado?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado

Try asking a question that's answerable. Alimony is not a "state law," as in, everyone receives it, but certainly many receive it. The provisions for the granting of alimony are coded in Colorado law -- so, yes, it's a "state law" of sorts.

Is alimony a state law in Colorado?

My son's divorce attorney told him today that alimony is a state law in CO and every woman must be granted alimony.

Tell your son to fire his lawyer, double-quick. I mean it. There are plenty of good ones out there, and for one to actually say that is more than I can digest.

Tell your son to select a family practice attorney with experience. Many initial consultations are free -- check the yellow pages. The ads will state if the first consultation is free.

Agreed! Dump that idiot attorney.

Being female, regardless of length of marriage does NOT, in itself, create the need nor the entitlement to alimony.

WE are not the frail, incapable, and financially ignorant and dependent creatures of so many decades ago.

suggest taking your identifying info out of your post.

There are several boxes along the side of your screen that say "find and attorney." Might also ask friends/ relatives as to who you would recommend.
