Am I entitled to Palamony...

What is the name of your state? GA

We were never married but lived together for over 5 years and have a child together. I was just curious.

Sorry, it was 3AM when I posted and I was a bit rummy.

He and I were together for a little over 5 years. I was a SAHM for my children and then we had a child. I was unable to work because we only had 1 vehicle and quite often he would not even bother to come home. He would stay out for days at a time with no call or anything. I'm now living with my parents and having a really hard time supporting me and my kids because I'm having a hard time finding a job.

Is that enough info? If not, ask me questions and I'll answer. I'm not sure what is needed.

Well now, that's a little better....but not for you.

Since Georgia abolished common law marriages unless the elements were satisfied before January 1, 1997, therefore, since 'palimony' is a form of common law alimony, the answer is no.

Now, the next question is, "Why don't you file for child support for those children, including the one you had with him?"

Thank you. I didn't think so, I just thought I'd ask.

I'm going to the courthouse today to find out where to start with custody and child support. I'm going to file on our joint child.

The reason I'm not/haven't filed on my girls is because one of my girls lives with her dad and one lives with me..So it would be a wash.
