Child Support

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kansas

Back in 1997 I got a divorce on grounds of abandonment. The judge awarded me child support for the two children we had while married. In 1998 I went to the state (at the time was Missouri) to try to get the child support. The case worked that was assigned to me told me I would not be eligible for child support because of the grounds I received my divorce. I was very frustrated and didnt know where to turn. I gave up. Now it is 11 years later and never have received child support. Am I eligible for child support now or did I wait too long?

wait for other responses, but i don't believe MS has a statute of limitations on child support at this time. i am almost positive you can still collect. are any of the children still minors?

One child is still a minor. The other is not. She is now 19. Just so there is no confusion it is MO (Missouri) not MS (Mississippi).

No I have not contacted the Kansas office. Is it true if you get a divorce on grounds of abandonment that what the judge rules is obsolete?

No, its not, and it wasn't 11 years ago either. If the judge ordered child support, then the CSE should have assisted you. You have every right to try again now as well.
