contempt

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

If you have to take your X to court for contempt because of nonpayment of spousal support is it necessary to hire an attorney, or can you represent yourself. Thank you

You can represent yourself. All you'll need to do is have a copy of the order, proof that the SS wasn't paid, and a little knowledge of your court rules. You can Google the court rules, and the relevent statutes.
