defining co-habitionWhat is the name of your state?CA My girlfriend resides at my residence. I am a contractor, working in various areas, commuting home as the job permits. I pay household expenses whether she is there or not. I do not contribute to her income, and she receives alimony. She is concerned that this would jeopardize her support. Any information would be apppreciated. |

defining co-habitionresponding to legal residence. She does not use my address for receiving mail. Guess I'm asking another question now. What constitutes legal residence? |

responding to homeguruNot trying to play any game. Seriously, she may stay here whether or not I am home. She doesn't normally answer the phone, unless she is expecting a call, and does not list the address as a place of residency. So, what does the law recognize as her place of residence? The address used on credit file, DMV, voter registration, etc? Just asking. |

| Okay - when she DOESN'T stay at your home - where does she stay? And how often does she stay at your home? But really, it's all moot. You said "My girlfriend resides at my residence." Do you understand what resides means? As in "lives there"? So she lives with you. Cohabits in your home.

residencestealth 2-OK, I should have been clearer on residing with me. She is here alot, and I am not! She comes over daily to feed my pets, does whatever in house duty areas, and does sleep here alot. She does claim that she lives with a roommate, and her worldly possessions are not at my home, just some clothes and makeup. Since she uses the moot point of NOT LIVING with me, does the fact that she is here more than she is not actually reflect on her permanent place of residence as reflected by the law. Thanks. |
