Does she have a claim for maintenance? What is the name of your state? NY What are the chances of my wife being able to claim spousal maintenance if: 1. She's giving me full custody of our four children. 2. She is moving to Japan to live with her parents. 3. She is capable of working--at least to support herself. 4. We have been married for 14 years. |

If she has been a stay at home mom for 14 years, then she obviously would need some further education to get realistically back into the workforce.....whether its here or in Japan. Therefore, its possible that she could be awarded some temporary maintenance to help her do so. |

| You could certainly ask that the alimony be offset by CS and neither pay the other. After all, you'll have four kids to support, and unlike an adult, they cannot support themselves.
