Evidence of Cohabitation

What is the name of your state? Utah

In my opinion, my ex-wife is cohabiting with her "finance". I talked with Jerry, my case worker at the Office of Recovery Services (ORS - this is the state agency that collects Child Support and Alimony from me). I described what I have observed. Jerry said that if I bring him evidence, documenting what I have observed, the ORS is likely to stop collecting the Alimony. The only way my ex could get it started again would be to get a court order. Jerry suggested that I hire an attorney or private investigator.

I checked out private investigators and the most affordable is $55 an hour plus $.49 per mile. My ex lives in a rural area. So, any investigator would have to travel 100 miles or more for each surveillance.

The problem is that after paying Child Support and Alimony, I have just enough money to live on. About the only thing I do above surviving is visiting my kids. I simply don't have the money to hire anyone.

I do have family and friends in the area who are sick of watching her take advantage of me and would be glad to help document her activities.

My question is, could the evidence be gathered by non-professionals? If yes, how would one go about this to make sure it would stand up?

No one here can help you with this.
