Ex decreased alimony without notice

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina
My ex decreased the amount of alimony with no notice. Until I am self-sufficient I depend on this income to keep up my household for my son. I am completely de-railed and need to know asap if I should sue in small complains for 'Money Owed' OR "Show Cause". I'm a bit confused and my lawyer can't see me until Friday. In the meantime I can't pay my bills and my completely distressed. Please Help!!

It would be a "show cause" for why he should not be held in contempt. In the meantime, borrow some money from family and pay them back when he pays up.
