a good first step

What is the name of your state? New York

Handcuffing divorce lawyers and judges. A good first step to equitable distrubition.

Actually, a better first step would be to require nationwide a mandatory, non-waivable 90 waiting period for a marriage license and a nationwide refusal to honor foreign marriages.

The second part of that comment appears to be bias and undiversified Your Honor.

I totally agree! It should be at least as hard to get married as it is to reverse the process.

Have you considered the reasons why?

Would millions and perhaps billions of dollars per year in legal fees be one factor?

Would uncertainty and instability in big business and our financial institutions from the way they operate today be another?

Would creating a generation of old maids be another?

Please explain what the reasoning is for this. Many of my family members came from Europe.

Why should their marriages be invalid simply because they are from elsewhere? My friend's parents survived the Holocaust and came here. After all that, WHY would their marriage be invalid because it occured in Europe?

It SHOULD be even harder to become parents together! Unfortunately, many people pay even LESS attention to who they procreate with, than who they marry.
