Question

How do I get alimony?

What is the name of your state? ID

Okay I have not been able to work since I married that soon to be ex husband because I had to stay home with kids and then he became so absuive and beat my daughter up so I had him thrown in jail for that.

He just got out of jail and went back t work...I just filed for child support to go after him to support our four kids.

i have a question how do I get alimony? I am working with Legal Aid right now for they said they will file for free in court to get me a divorce but I want to make sure my rights are protected as well because legal aid said that I can not tell them how much is child support and I only makes like 700 per month and child support would be 498 per month so it is hard to stretch to support four kids on that low income and he makes like 1400 per month. Is it possible to get some alimony out of him so that I can go back to college and finish up my career so that I can be able to support my kids BETTER!!!!

Depends on the circumstances. How long were you married, for starters?

Well, that would certainly count for a longterm marriage, and you'd at least be considered for alimony. Thing is - there's not a lot of spare money for either of you. You can get a ballpark idea of the child support at http://www.divorcehq.com/calculators/id_supportcalc.shtml .

thank you very much for the link. I know it won't be lot leftover but I had been there for him all the times and now I have to be there for kids and am basically more worried about how to support them better. That is why I plan to go to college now.
