How to File in Separate StatesI am attempting to receive my retro alimony payments and to force him to begin again to make weekly Court Ordered spousal support payments. As suggested, I need to file a Motion for Rule to Show Cause. However, I live on the West Coast and my ex lives on the East Coast. Please advise how I would file in his state of NY when I live in CALIF. I would be unable to travel to NY to file the Motion. What is my alternative. Thank you for your help. |

| You must go to the court that originally handled the case -- unless you both can agree on a new forum and the new and old courts agree to it also. Period. If you cannot/will not do that, then you're not going to get the relief you're asking for. So you have to decide: 1. Pursue the case. 2. Don't pursue the case. |
