| Interstate divorce related order What is the name of your state? CA
Greetings. My ex-wife and I were divorced in June 2007. At the time we both resided in Virginia. In September, she had a VA circuit court judge enter an order requiring that I pay close to $7000 in credit card debt and attorney's fees and that I had 90 days to comply. In late October I moved to California for a new, better paying job. The 90 days are up today, I am just now getting on my feet financially and am just now able to start making payments towards that 7k. Throughout this time, I have paid the ordered child and spousal supports. My questions: Can the circuit court judge enter a capias immediately or is there a rule to show cause hearing required? If he enters a capias, is it enforceable in California? Is this credit card debt payment considered a 'support amount' and does UIFSA apply?
Thanks in advance for your help.
