length of alimonyflorida - my husband and I lived together before marrying, does that affect the length of any spousal support since florida was a common law state? florida was a common law state until 1968. i was told that some states, although no longer a common law state, recognize the time a couple lived together before marriage when determining alimony. | FL is not a "common law marriage" state. I don't know if the state of FL recognizes common law marriages that existed previously in a "common law" state. |
