What is the name of your state? California

Planning to get married in Jamaica. I'm worried that I will lose certain marriage rights if i get married other there. Does Jamaica have different rules pertaining to divorce (not that i am planning to do that...). To make life easier, should i just get married in California and renew vows there? Thanks for anyone's input.

My response:

The marital laws of California have NOTHING to do with "where" you're married. You could get married on the Moon, and it wouldn't matter.

Marital laws are ONLY concerned with your "residence" and "domicile"; i.e., if you get married in Jamaica, to be entitled to California's "Community Property" laws, your residence and domicile must be within the State of California.

That's all.

So, while you're an Jamaica, smoke a big fatty for me!
