modifying permanent alimony

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

I am representing myself to lower my alimony payments due to the fact my income has changed significantly since the Final Judgement. I am not sure how much I should ask the court to lower it to? Also, the reason for my alimony was that I made significantly more than my wife. But, now I have lost my job (involuntary) and taken a much lower salaried position and my income is not signifcantly more than hers anymore. She worked during our entire marriage. Thank you for any ideas???

What does your court order say about alimony being modifiable?

modify alimony

The final judgement says, the court reserves jurisdiction to enforce and where appropriate by law modify the final judgement. in the alimony paragraph there is no mention of modification, either that it can't be or can be modified.

How old is the judgment? Why do you believe that you have to give a specific amount as opposed to presenting the court with the facts and letting THEM make the determination as to what amount would be appropriate?
