| | | Non custodial parent asking for Alimony What is the name of your state? MI
I'm in the process of a divorce. I will have sole physical custody of our three children. I am pregnant with our fourth child.
He, as the noncustodial parent is asking for Alimony.
I do make more money that he does, simply because I have worked through our marriage, while he has chosen to do drugs, gamble, cheat, lie and get fired from several good jobs for breaking the rules at his work.
If I have to give him Alimony, that will cancel out his child support. I am living paycheck to paycheck right now.
Thank you

Emma | Alimony for him wouldn't necessarily cancel out child support for 4 children. Nor is it guaranteed that he would receive alimony. How big is the difference between your incomes and how long were you married? |

| | | In response to the questions, what is the difference in our incomes and how long have we been married.
I make $48,000 a year, my husband makes $21,000 a year. We have been married for 15 years.
Thanks,
Emma |

Thanks,
Emma | That is a significant differential, but your income can't be defined as "high" either. If the children are going to be remaining primarily with you, that would be another reason for alimony not to be ordered. 21k isn't going to provide much support for 4 children, so obviously the bulk of it is going to fall on you.
Here is the official FOC site for Michigan, a child support calculator is available there.

You've made all of three posts and have been here a month, let's try to watch a little more closely before making accusations.
