so if I go without a lawyer am I out of luck ?

[quote=outhouse;2237334]OK heres the law for Va reguarding spousal support
I have a paper saying the hearing date is 5-1-09 at 9am no money for a lawyer, she has free law service from legal aid of va. I can not use them because of conflict of interest, wil the judge take in to consideration the fact that I have a young child to support ? She says she is disabled and has been denied benefits twice and is on her third appeal, neither one of us has any money. I paid for most of the bills when we were together, is that bad for me for this hearing ?????

mediation

Hey everyone... my dilema keeps getting better, I just received a call from someone at the courthouse asking me to go to a mediation on 4-28-09 before my hearing on 5-01-09 and I CALLED MY SOON 2 B X AND SHE WILL NOT SPEAK TO ME OR RETURN CALLS E-MAILS ETC but the lady at the courthouse that called said she spoke with my wife and she will be at the mediation, she said they try to get a agreement before the hearing, but there is no way I am agreeing to pay her any money or anything, so should I go to this thing on the 28th ? in case you are not familiar with what is going on with me, I will try and shorten the story, my wife left two times in six months she says I made her leave but I begged her to stay, she is saying she is disabled and trying for social security disability, and is on her third appeal, she does have allot of health issues but I do too, and I have a nine year old son who has a lot of behavior problems, in fact since my soon 2 b x left, my boy has a small stuffed animal dog he named spot and he says it has her love on it and carry's it everywhere he goes, well yesterday at school he got in trouble with the dog and his teacher took it from him and he lost it big time and got suspended for 10 days, but back to my mediation hearing, I am not going to come to any kind of agreement with herbut should I GO AND PRESENT MY EVIDENCE THAT i HAVE financial etc. ?? I WAS OUT OF WORK WHEN WE GOT MARRIED and for whatever reason I can't hold a job for long, hey I know I am not a good person but I LOVE MY SON and any money awarded to her will make it nearly impossible to support him. and I still love my wife but she obviously does not feel the same about us, she won't talk to my son either, any help would be greatfully appreciated.. she loaned me money when we got married to pay rent and utilities but I PAYED HER BACK SHE IS VERY SECERETIVE ABOUT HER MONEY SHE HAS 2 bank accounts and receives child support from her last marriage, she has a son with her x but the dad has custody and she sees her son every other weekend if that, anyway I am a little nervous about all of this should I be ? still married but she left after 6 months. thanks... guitareagle
