Reduction in alimony

What is the name of your state? New York

My fiancee and I live together with my three children. We have been living together for a year and a half. He lost his job a year ago and has recently filed for a reduction in alimony. His ex-wife's lawyer wants me to provide my recent paystub and income tax return information from last year. He has obtained employment but at a much lower salary. Am I obligated by law to provide this when it isn't my alimony obligation?

Well, I personally wouldn't comply with that. You aren't married to him and you are not a party to the case.

However, if a judge believes that someone is voluntarily unemployed or underemployed its possible for him/her to take the income of a spouse or significant other into consideration in making a decision.

You are not married and you have 3 kids to support, what money YOU make is none of his ex's business, and I would make her try to explain to a judge that when you have 3 kids to support that your money is her business. Do not comply with her lawyers request because if you do that, then she's lible to keep trying to pull stupid stunts all of the time.

It wouldn't be any of her business if there were NO children to support.

It would be a cold day in HE__ before I gave my fience's ex wife a tiny glimmer of what I make.

It is none of her damn business and I would tell her so right to her face.

Is your fience having a hard time finding a new job? It's been a long time he's been out of work!.

Good luck, tell her to go take a hike.
