She works I currently do not, we are not married....


What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA. Ex and I are going to court over are son (custody). If I am on the birth certifcate- and we are are split apart can I file for food stamps/welfare to support child?

With whom does the child live? Were you married? Are you able-bodied (physically able to work)?

TBD -(looks like full and legal for me -when all is said and done) I take care of my ill parents.

This honestly isn't a question that can be answered here - whether or not you qualify for food stamps etc., will depend on many factors. The only way you'll know for sure is by applying.

Of course you can file. Nothing can stop you from that. Whether or not you will get it is up to the department in your area. It can't hurt to fill it out and see.
