speeding things up

What is the name of your state? OH

Background. Married 9 years (and counting) 2 kids ages 9 and 7. Wife never worked. I was in grad school for 8 of 9 years of our marriage and now have an academic job in Canada.

The temprary orders obligated me to pay roughly 75% of my net income in support. The judge that will actually handle the divorce hearing says this amount is too high and will lower it. So, my soon to be ex nows she will get a pay-cut when the divorce is final so she and her lawyer are attempting to drag this out as long as possible. Our next hearing in Franklin county is not until August. Is ther any way to speed things up? I am representing myself because I can't afford an lawyer. Can I call the court and ask for an earlier hearing date?

You could settle before that date.

Nothing stated by me should be taken as giving you legal advice or forming an attorney/client relationship. The devil is in the details after all.

she will not settle

I have made her an offer that only reduces the temporary order by 200 a month (from an original amount of 1,700). She will not take less than what the temporary order gave her. She wants to drag it out as long as she can to get the most money.
