What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Calif

If you have a court order staing that you are awarded $1000.00 a month but the other party decides he can not afford that so he cuts his payments to $100.00 can you sue him in small claims court?? If so what would it be called ie.. punitive damages??

I know that he is in contempt but my attorney states that a contempt order is expensive to file, is that true?? If so how can I file one on my own if I can not sue him.

You cannot sue him in small claims court for a family law matter. Small claims does not have jurisdiction to hear the case. It needs to go back to family court and you need to file for contempt.

The court fees aren't expensive, however, your attorneys fees may be expensive.

Do you intend on firing your attorney? If not, you cannot file anything on your own behalf.
