Cool

spousal support and alimony

What is the name of your state? New Mexico

I have been divorced for five years. During my divorce proceedings I did not ask for alimony or spousal support. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and continue to see medical professionals for this disorder and take prescribed medication. This condition existed during my 10 year marriage. I have not been able to keep steady employment due to this condition and recently my low down, bleep, bleep, ex-husband was awarded primary custody of my kids. Can I go back to court and petition for spousal support or alimony? What are my chances of success pro - se?

And how does the progression of your illness in the years since your divorce have anything to do with someone you have been apart from for years? Your ex has been an ex for a long time.

Your situation now must be handled the same way you would have handled it had you never married him.

So you think your ex husband should be responsible for your well being for the rest of your life because you were married to him at one time? I wonder what you'd think if he was in your shoes, and you in his. Should you have to support him? After all, you were married to him five years ago!

I'm sorry, but you need to figure out how to take care of yourself. It is not his fault you have this disorder and not his responsibility to take care of you.
