Spousal support in a child support hearing?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY
I went to a child support hearing and the judge ordered spousal support as well. Is this standard or is there supposed to be a notification of this proceding as well? It hit me out of the blue.
Thanks

Was there any type of pleading filed that specifically asked for spousal support?
Was spousal support request included in the petition/motion for CS?

If the answer is no, you NEED to speak to a local attorney ASAP to see what your options are for filing an appeal based on lack of notice.

No pleading for Spousal Support and no request included in the motion. it seemed very odd to come right out of the blue. Thanks I will call around.

Do not delay, you have only a short time in which to file an appeal.

Not surprising that the idiot judge ordered alimony out of the blue. If you appeal as suggested in another post, it may not mean that you won't be ordered to pay alimony at some future hearing where proper notice was given you. NY judges expect men to pay women.

Take a look at NY DRL 248 statute regarding modification of alimony. When you finish vomiting reconsider whether an appeal will help you.

In any event you need a lawyer and a divine blessing. The judge is obviously out to screw you along with your ex.
