Spousal Support collection in another state

What is the name of your state? CO
was wondering if my ex can collect if I move to another state.long story short, married 20 years, divoriced 10 years and have been paying all along. she works but getting paid cash under the table . I have informed the judge but he will not do anything. I was late on paying by 2 months ( injury ) and was in contempt and in jail for 30 days. so I guess what I am asking is, if I move to NC and stop paying her, can they charge me with contempt again and if so can they arest me in NC and send me to jail in NC or arest me and send me back to CO for jail or even put lien on my house in NC. I never plan on ever coming back to CO
thank you Don

Moving to another state is of no benefit to you at all. Yes, they can still charge you with contempt, yes, they can still send you to jail, and yes, they can put a lien on your house.

You paid the idiot court order for ten years then fell behind 2 months because of an injury and the boneheaded jackass judge throws you in jail for 30 days??

Something has to be done about these judges and SOON!!

Why does she continue to need your support other than a jackass judge says so??

You can see by the other post here that these judges and women want to own your @ss just like a slave because the woman has the sick idea that you owe her for life because she gave you the benefit of marrying you. What a complete crock of
sh!t!!

I suspect STRONGLY that the OP was not just all of a sudden two month behind. I suspect that he probably had a string of contempt hearings that he probably blew off in order to tick a judge that much. Judges would much rather you be employed and paying the support. He had to have said SOMETHING to the judge to be sent to the slammer.

yes I raised my voice to the judge when he would not give me time to catch up. he wanted right now and I tried to explain, not working for 2 months and I was behind on all my bills . but that was no excuse, so pay now or 30 days.when I got out, then 3 months behind I sold my car to pay her or go back to jail. the judge did give me 2 weeks to get her paid.

Why don't you take this back to court and get it stopped? 10 years is a long time to support an ex wife.

The judge just jailed him for 30 days for non-payment. Do you really think that the judge would agree to vacate the alimony order at this point?

What we ALL need to agree on is severely curtailing the power that these abusive judges are GIVEN by society to rule over us like a medieval England king!!
