Spousal Support Onetime Payment

My soon-to-be x-spouse is agreeing to a onetime spousal support payment in lieu of monthly payments. Is this legal? Is there any possibility that demands for additional spousal support could be made in the future? How should this be worded in our separation/divorce agreement to ensure that no additional support could be claimed?

My response:

Sure, it's legal - - but, we're not here to write contracts for writers to these boards. You'll have to do your own research by buying a book or two from your local bookstore.
