Statute of limitations on Spousal Support?

What is the name of your state? CA

My fiancee has been was married for 7 years and then divorced for over 7 years. His ex-wife has been receiving Child support all this time. She has always been troublesome and mean. When the ex wife found out me she went ballistic filed false battery and harrasment charges, and among other things is tryinging to sue for spousal support. Can she do this after 7 years? There was no spousal support for her mentioned in the dissolution of marriage. Why is her lawyer even going along with this?
