I have been married for 3 years to a woman with 2 children. My wife currently receives child support from the biological father. My wife & I both have full time jobs. When I met her she was independently raising both children and she also received child support.

Question: If my wife & I were to agree to file for divorce, could I be liable for child support or alimony if the courts got involved? Thank you

My response:

Child support, no - - unless, in the very rare instance, that the children were in desperate need. But, it doesn't sound like it, so no. Simply, they're not your children. As for Alimony, unless your wife is a quad, and has every disease on one of those check lists, with absolutely no way of self-support, then the answer is no.

You have a "short term" marriage. So, you're going to get out of this one with your skin intact.
