My response:

Unless your name appears on the title of the house or car or whatever, you get nothing. That's what a marriage certificate means - - you get the protections of the marital laws. But, since you chose not to be married, you get no protections.

However, it's a different story when it comes to the child. If he is the father, then you're entitled to file a Petition for child support. Then, he gets a chance at obtaining custody. If you're able to retain custody, then he'll be awarded visitation rights.

Next time, make sure you get a ring on your finger before you go to bed with someone.

"Make sure you get a ring on your finger before you go to bed with someone".
Many do not have enough fingers for all those rings. (Which may not always be forthcoming anyway). How about using protection against procreation and STD's and avoiding large financial contributions or obligations?
Please do not advocate taking all the fun out of life.
There was an old maid from Duluth
Who regretted the loss of her youth.
And all those missed chances
At parties and dances.
And once in a telephone booth.

Don't pay any attention to these guys...they get a little wild at times! But listen to the legal advice of IAAL...he's to the point but knows his stuff. Good luck.
