what is considered in term of my alimony?

What is the name of your state? CT
Hi, I pay alimony to my ex. I started after the agreement, about 6 months before the actual divorce. I was then ordered to pay alimony for 5 years. Is it 5 years from the day of actual disollution in the court or 5 years from when I started paying? I have always paid faithfully! But it kinda feels like a slap for my ex also committed identity theft using my info. (For getting everything, house, cars, alimony, bank accounts wasn't enough!?) So she has a couple felony charges on her but won't turn herself in! Hard to keep writing a weekly check to someone that has messed up your credit! Any laws that might help me out there? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I did.....

there is an arrest warrant for her. So she has an outstanding warrant! Most that have ID theft committed against them never know who turned their life upside down! I get to add insult to injury by having to pay the person to boot!!!

tsk,tsk... I wouldn't say that. I'd like to know why she hasn't been arrested. Can't you supply her address to the police?

If she committed the fraud after your divorce, then it may possibly be a federal offense. I'm not a lawyer, so I'm only relating what I was able to google. Also, my guess is that if it occurred prior to your divorce, then it wouldn't be identity theft. Again, I'm not sure, but here's a link to check out. It wouldn't hurt to look into it until one of the seniors responds.

If I went to length to where the police put a warrant out.....

Thank you and I am sorry that I may have not made that apparent! Arrest warrant was issued, she lives in another state,...!? Said the monetary amount wasn't enough to bring her in from another state.
Any help on the questions**************..
When does alimony start and any laws on paying alimony to someone that stole your identity?!

Thanks Perroloco2**************.

for your help! It was committed after the divorce.... she has been charged with 2 felonies due to this! And I still have to keep paying her!? It has been 3 years + !? Why isn't she punished at all?! If she was getting Social Security her payments would be stopped for you can't have an outstanding warrant and still receive benefits but you can fraud your ex with a felony and he still has to pay you every week!?

So any help about when courts start counting alimony?????

When you start paying or on the day of the real divorce?! That is my biggest ? I guess! Is it 5 years from date of divorce or 5 years from day of agreement that I started paying alimony?

Thanks again Perroloco2!!**************....

From what I hear even if she comes to CT and faces her felony charges.... I still gotta pay!!! Doesn't surprise me anymore! Even if she gets put in jail for felonies committed against me I think CT would throw me in jail if I didn't send her alimony check every week!! LOL!!

Guess that is the way our "justice" works here in CT!

My wife who has supported me (emotioally) and has even gotten every money order for my alimony************** has lived, supported and loved her child like you wouldn't believe with NO support! She had to include Child Support in EVERY financial paper BUT the IRS!!!!! Her EX died and she is left with a big back arrearage! Apparently it isn't even a bad debt!? For it wasn't included as income in her Federal return?! Child support isn't taxable so why would she include it?!

CT really needs to look at what they are doing!!!! For neither situation seems fair!

Thanks again to those that have tried to help!!!!! It is GREATLY apppreciated!!!!!

I think that whether or not its 5 years from the date of the divorce, or 5 years from the date the agreement was signed, depends on the wording of the agreement. Also, the date that the judge signed it would factor in as well.

Get a consult with a local attorney who can actually read the agreement and advise you.

As far as your wife's situation is concerned, I have explained that to you before. I am sorry that it doesn't make sense to you, but if someone never paid tax on money, then they can't get a tax deduction for it either.

Thanks Ldig**************.but......

You stated that ......"As far as your wife's situation is concerned, I have explained that to you before. I am sorry that it doesn't make sense to you, but if someone never paid tax on money, then they can't get a tax deduction for it either."

I am sorry that you have explained this to me before but WHO PAYS TAXES ON UNTAXABLE INCOME?!! Yes, it doesn't make sense to me. ( Child Support Enforcement Act states I am not the only one that thinks the way I do!) I am sorry. I don't understand the system and I appreciate you trying to help me! (I really do!) But Child Support is NON Taxable... that is the ONLY benefit I received when I have EVER even got it!! For we DON"T get interest, late fees, cost of living raises, etc. as you would for any other debt that wasn't getting paid and was owed to you. (Yet I had to include it, as income, whether I was receiving it or not, with EVERYONE BUT the IRS!!??) Noone I know would include "income" they HAVEN"T received - and pay taxes on it to boot...? Seems unfair and I too, am sorry, that it doesn't make sense! LOL!
Thanks again to everyone that tried to help!
