When does the clock start ticking for SS payments?

What is the name of your state? Ca

I am currently going through the mediation process and my wife who is seeking the divorce has received a tempory support agreement we reached through the mediator. I am not sure if this has been sent to the court, but we agreed upon a temportary amount for CS and SS. My question is does the SS count towards the time I must pay my spouse for the years in the marriage. Meaning since we were married for 9 years, does the clock start ticking now on the SS payments or only when the final divorce papers are signed and sealed?

Typically the clock starts ticking when the order is created. You will want to make sure that support has a definite end, such as 4 years, or if she remarries or co-habitates.
