When does the clock start ticking for SS payments? What is the name of your state? Ca I am currently going through the mediation process and my wife who is seeking the divorce has received a tempory support agreement we reached through the mediator. I am not sure if this has been sent to the court, but we agreed upon a temportary amount for CS and SS. My question is does the SS count towards the time I must pay my spouse for the years in the marriage. Meaning since we were married for 9 years, does the clock start ticking now on the SS payments or only when the final divorce papers are signed and sealed? |

| Typically the clock starts ticking when the order is created. You will want to make sure that support has a definite end, such as 4 years, or if she remarries or co-habitates.
