Will I get alimony? What is the name of your state? wa Husband and I have been together 9 yrs married 6 of those years. We have 3 kids all under the age of 7 and I have not worked since the birth of our 7 yr old. Based on that would I be able to request alimony? Can I get that in addition to child support? Typically how long does alimony last for ? |

My response: So, you were getting "splooooged" before marriage, eh? Naughty, naughty, little girl! Anyway, the answer is, more than likely no. Your marriage is termed "a short term" marriage. You can undoubtedly go back to work. The most, I believe, you would obtain is a one-time payment of a few thousand dollars, probably around 3 to 4 thousand. That's it. IAAL |

| For a SIX year marriage, if alimony is awarded, it is likely to be rehabilitative a for a short duration. To transition you back into the workforce. And that is IF. But there are many factors, and we do not have a crystal ball nor all the details..

| Thats kinda what I thought...If I was to get any type of alimony it would be short term until I was to return to the workforce. Thanks to you both. |

No, it wouldn't be "short term alimony" (Spousal Support). For such a short term marriage, you'd be handed a small check. You do with the money as you choose; e.g., training for a job, or shopping at Old Navy. IAAL |
