Will I likely need to pay alimony?

What is the name of your state? California

I'm in the beginning stages of getting a divorce and would like to know if it is likely that I'll need to pay alimony.

At this point it looks likely that she will concede primary custody to me (he'll continue living with me) and she'll move out.

I only have a high school education and have been the primary breadwinner for the majority of my marriage. She recently earned a Bachelors degree in psychology and only has one year left towards obtaining a masters in it. She's worked on and off throughout our marriage, so it isn't as though she doesn't have any workplace skills or education.

She's a smart and capable woman, so I don't see why I should have to pay her anything, considering that her earning potential is so much higher than me with just my high school diploma and no additional education.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

My response:

You haven't supplied enough information with which to answer you. Where's your attorney?

Part of why we're splitting is that she's destroyed our finances to such a point I can't afford an attorney, so I don't have one.
