911 called by wife.

What is the name of your state?

MO, I had a fight with my wife and she was yelling at me at that time iwas having fever , I requested her to stop discussing further as already i have lot of stress from our past rows . Unable to confine her i slapped her to calm her down. Though for the first time in our life it happened . She called 911 and police came immdly. But she never pressed any charges against me. So police warned me and left . But now she threatens me and became more dominating with this development.

Can you please explain What does it mean in legal opinion. And where i stand is there anything against me ? As i earlier said it happened for the first time with me so am clueless. Please advise. Do i need to see a lawyer.

Thanks.

Your damn lucky, in most states you would have been arrested for domestic violence. In my state, it would also mean a mandatory 24 hours in jail. What it means is you need to find another method of diffusing similar situation without physical violence. Don't let there be a next time or you can count of a free trip to the graybar hotel. Just remember the five magic words, "Yes dear, you are right".

Is there going to be any record against me? Can it effect my employment?
As now all of my inlaws too have gathered and trying to take best out of this situation against me. I am all alone and donnot have any idea where am trapped now.

There will likely be a record of some kind of the incident. I do not know whether MO requires a report or not, so the record may be as simple as a notation in the officers' logs that they showed up, or, they might have had to write a police report.

Unless you get arrested for it, I cannot see how it might effect your employment ... unless you are employed as a relationship counselor.

Thanks A lot, Carl. I was wondering what would have happened ?. If my wife would have hit me with some thing? as she was trying to grab something. Unfortunately she saw the fax machine and dialled 911. Actually it was all impulsive on her part as my slap barely brush her chin. Although i feel sorry for my attitude but now i did happened.

Not knowing the laws in MO, I don't know what might have happened. In CA we are required to try and determine a "primary aggressor" and that is the person that generally goes to jail. However, it is possible that both parties could go to jail here, and I imagine the same possibility exists most everywhere.
