| What state are you in? Go to the local police department and tell them you want to file a report. Filing a report does not necessarily mean the police will take any action, it all depends on what you're reporting and how long ago it occurred.

| If a crime has occurred, the state has a specific period of time to commence legal action in the matter. In some crimes it could be 6 months, for others it could be many years. How long you have depends on the crime and the laws of your un-named state. In general, the longer you wait to make a report, the less likely it is that the matter will be pursued. And, as previously mentioned, making a report is not a guarantee that ANY action will be taken. - Carl
