Active Warrant Notice or Mail Fraud??

What is the name of your state? Texas

I got a ticket in a small town called Itasca back in December. When I was mailing my payment in, the directions as to how much i owed were really confusing. I had tried to call the office but I could never get through. So my time was running out so I just mailed what I thought the paper said I owed. I figured if I had it wrong they would either send me back the difference if i paid too much (yeah right) or they would contact me and let me know if I still owed anything. Since the ticket I mailed in had the number to the office on it, I tried searching for the number online but could never find it. So 8 months goes by and I didn't hear a word from them. So I thought I was paid in full.

Welllllll.....I get a letter in the mail with a heading that says "ACTIVE WARRANTS DIVISION". It says that I have a warrant out for my arrest and that I need to pay $548 in the next 10 days!!!!!!!!!!!!! (keep in mind i am a poor poor college student!) So I have been searching and searching for some validity of this letter. I'm hoping it's bogus and I can sleep at night.

if ANYONE can help me, you have no idea how much it will be appreciated....

THANK YOU!!!
