What is the name of your state? State is Georgia.
My 21 year old son has been charged with Agg. Assault relating to a fight + battery, simple battery among others. (he pulled a knife from his pocked to defend himself, but it wasn't used) He has a history of bipolar and really does need help, but the public defender is saying, 7 years in a max. security prison because of prior arrest (he already has 1 previous agg. assault on his record). Could anything different be done if he had a private attorney? I was hopeing there would be an alternative to max. security prison by getting the charges reduced to misdamenaors or any alternative to 7 yrs. max. security prison. What is the name of your state?
