Another Illegal Search? What is the name of your state? IL-Someone called the police & local shelter saying I was breeding a lot of dogs. I was not breeding anything. We rescued some strays off the street and our females were spayed & there were no puppies in the home. The youngest was 2 yrs. old. No animals were mistreated in anyway. (My vet will testify in court.) Anyway, they knocked on the door (I was home alone,) I answered the door & they said they had a report called in & I said get a warrant & they said if I didn't let them in I would have thousands in fines & go to jail. Over 20 people came into my home & ransacked it like it was a drug bust without a warrant. They took my pets away & left my home turned upside down with marks left in the ceiling from rabies poles & my matress half off the bed. Do I have any recourse with them coming into my home without a warrant? |

| Check with an attorney. If they had no warrant, and there was no exigency (i.e. a good reason to think that if they did not enter immediately evidence would be destroyed or animals woul dbe harmed) you might be able to get any evidence suppressed and MIGHT be able to collect from a lawsuit. But, I am thinking their version of events will be somewhat different. Talk to an attorney if you want to sue. Carl
