Question

Arrest Warrent! for me

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OREGON

Hello,
Here's my situation, In February, I got 5 counts
1- Menacing
2- Interfering with public transportation
3- Interfering with public transportation
4- Disorderly conduct
5- Disorderly conduct

I missed my trial one time and then I guess I got a bench warrant, I got stopped by a cop and then they found out I had a warrant so I went to jail for 10 days until they put me on a Pre-trial Service Program.
I was consistent with going to my pre-trials. However, I missed one of my pre-trials but the judge let me off the hook (barely)

In mid June, I got pulled over and got 2 tickets for No Lights and No Insurance. My court was set at July 15

I didn't make it to court, and I found out that I have an arrest warrant now. I had court today for my other case (the 5 counts), but I didn't go because I didn't want to be arrested in court.

They told me to turn myself in. I don't care if I have to go to jail for a month but it can't be any longer than that, but I am not an American citizen and I am here on a student visa for college, meaning that I have to attend Fall 2008 term full-time and that I can't be locked up otherwise I'll be out of status & deported.

Advice?

Perhaps you should post this in Immigration Law .

I wouldn't worry about the Fall Semester if I were you....

Also , you do not get to choose , if you want to show up in court , or not .

So , you only want to do 30 days huh ?

Tell the Judge you can't do more , see if it flies .

Well...you'll get an education...

What made you think that you could ignore court, over and over?

There is only one way for you to get yourself out of this mess without jail time and there's no guarantee this will work. But it's your only chance regardless.

Just have mommy and daddy wire you a big bag of money and hand it all to the best attorney you can find. Then have them wire you another big bag of money to pay the courts for the fines you'll be hit with because of your lacking respect for our laws and for not taking our legal system seriously.

Since you were never taught to respect others and obey the laws of whatever country you happen to be in at any point in your life, your parents can pay for you to receive this lesson the hard and expensive way.

There it is, do it, or go home and don't return.
