Arrested for Assault Public Servant

What is the name of your state? Texas

As I was being arrested and placed in the policecar I accidently hit the police officer when I opened the police car door. I was charged with Assault Public Servant which is a 3rd degree felony. I am currently and have been for several years under doctors care for mental health - depression and ADD. I am taking medication that makes me very irrate when I am upset. What is going to happen now? I am currently a college student with a major in nursing. Will this affect my nursing certification. What should I do?

Get an attorney. He might be able to establish some mitigation in your case. As for the nursing, well, I can imagine that a felony conviction will wreak havoc on licensing. Maybe you can get it dropped to a misdemeanor ... but that might still effect your licensing. Ask your attorney.

And how were YOU opening the officer's door? Weren't you in handcuffs? Or did you push it open even wider when you were getting inside?

Probably one of those 'accidental' kicks at the door while the officer was closing it!! Happened to me ONCE (and only once!!). Took a little 'prisoner adjustment', if you know what I mean!

One of those things you (hopefully) learn from ... like sprinting after a suspect with the baton still in the ring! We had another 'boot' do a face plant two weeks ago when dashing after a runner ... baton between the legs and WHAM!
