Question

arrested for theft by check

What is the name of your state? Texas
i had some questions on what my possible scenario might look like. i was recently arrested and charged with theft by check. i know that i am not guilty of these charges since at the time that i wrote the check there were funds in my account, that were seized before the check cleared because my employer had written me a bad check and it bounced. i was also contesting having to pay the payment, because it was for a doctors visit at which i had a sore throat, and he prescribed a medication thats side effects included throat irritiation. the arrest was very traumatic for me since i have, to the best of my knowledge always been a law abiding citizen. they arrested me, did all the booking rituals, my husband took care of my bond and i was released without any information on how to obtain a lawyer, when my court date will be, or what my rights are, all i know at this point is that i have to check in with my bondsman every week. what are my rights and possible options of taking care of this matter, especially since i have very limited funds. what are the chances that i will be found not guilty and what are the steps to take at this point? any help will be appreciated.

YOU are guilty guilty guilty**************

You have a computer, you have a bank, why cant you do your banking on line so you can check your balance anytime you want to?

YOU have to take responsibilty for not being modern and up to date in your life.

Plus almost anyone can get overdraft checking of $500 as long as you are not a deadbeat.

Angry

no thank you

I need helpful advice in this manner, not condemning, so if you can help share, if your response is anything like the previous one, please keep it to yourself. The one's who will find me guilty will be in a court of law, it is not your place.

that WAS helpful advice......

Set up your bank account on line then get overdraft checking......and show the judge all of this, and say it will NEVER happen again and you should be OK.

not guilty, or no contest?

I know that you can later reverse a not guilty statement, but is it the same with no contest, or is a no contest plea irreversible? I am willing to pay the necessary fines without a conviction, but if the necessary fines are outrageous, can I reverse the plea to not guilty, and fight it after that? Or should I begin with not guilty? ANy helpful advice appreciated.
