Asault with a deadly weapon, PLEASE HELP

What is the name of your state? NC

i was out with a friend last night and a guy that I work with called and met us at a bar. We all got very drunk and the guy from work said he was fine to drive us home. Well he was not and almost wrecked and we told him to pull over repeatedly so we could get out. He did not and I was very afraid for our safety so I did the only thing I could think to do, I pulled out my pocket knife and put it to his throat and told him if he did not pull over that I would cut him. He pulled over and my friend and i got out and walked the remaining two miles to his house. The guy from work pressed charges at around 4am this morning. Today he has called me and said he is sorry and that he will drop the charges and even go with me to the police station to tell them that. Well the officer who took the report is not back in until friday night at 6pm. We have both left messages with his sgt regarding the matter but I don't know if I should wait until friday to do anything like my lawyer said to do or if the both of us should go to try and see a magistrate tomorrow and clear this up. Also will the DA let him drop the charges or even pursue it if there is no harm done and he doesn't wish to pursue the charges any further? PLEASE HELP ME

If you ever find yourself in this type of situation again, I suggest that rather than putting a knife to anyone's throat, you just reach over and turn the ignition off and take the keys

You should do as your lawyer said.

Crystal ball broke, so I have no way of knowing what the DA will do.

thanks

Well is it likely that the DA would drop the charges since this guy doesn't want to pursue the matter?

No one could even venture a guess. That's a big "maybe".
