Assault

Hi,
I live in Ohio. Here is my situation. I was at a party that was honoring a deceased friend. Their were a ton of people at this party which was a overnight camping/drinking party. A gentlemen that was also at the party drank way to much and started trying to fight a completely innocent man. The gentleman that had one two many beers started to charge the innocent man, so I tripped him when he started charging toward this man. He ended up breaking his ankle during his fall. No criminal charges/police report was ever filed. Now two months later the man called me and told me he was contacting an attorney to sue me for his medical bills and time off of work unless I give him money. My question is can any criminal charges still be brought against me two months later? Can I get sued for this situation? What should i do? Thanks in advance for your great advice.

A: Yes, yes, and get a lawyer.
