Brutality

What is the name of your state? This occurence was in Louisiana.

My brothers and I were in NO last weekend and my brother got apprached by a police officer on Boubon st. For no reason at all this police officer beat my brother down to street. I was in AWE, that in the United Sates this could happen to you. Bottom line is he was arrested for assualt, and traversing. He was assualted and victimized as I watched everything. My other who was present got arrested as well for traversing. He asked a police officer at the scene " Officer, what is going on that is my brother", that is why he got arrested? I am in total shock still after 4 days this has been such a traumatic experiece. As a tourist strolling down Bourbon St, we were approached head on and this cop attacked my brother and even hit him while he was face down, blacked out ,on his stomach on the liqour soaked street. Yes he struck my brother while he was laying on his stomachwith his hands limp to his side. The police officer proceeded to celebrate this beating he gave my brother by high fiving another officer right in front of me! I am very upset and am seeking some advise as to what we can do. I brought my brother to hospital immediately after being released and we have the triage report. Since we live in Houston, TX and needed to get home asap as we were already in NO 2 days longer than needed, my brother has had been diagnosed with a Medium grade concussion and his bruises are now developing. He cannot work per doctors orders and is going to Nuerologist to find out the extent of his injuries. Please help me with some information reagding police brutality and or anything related this behavior and what we should do, we want to press charges!

I POSTED THIS A FEW WEEKS AGO, AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS ANY ADVISE AT ALL, THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR REPLY.

Your first step has to be to file a complaint with the police department. Call them up and tell them you want to file a complaint. Make a lot of noise and get the ball rolling. You just have to wait and see which way the ball rolls from there.
