If the police get a warrant or a subpoena, would it say "all records between date X and date Y in the past), or just all records? If it's all records, would an email provider just hook them up to the feed so that they get a new alert everytime an email is sent or received? Or would they need to get another subpoena or warrant every so often?

Why don't you ask the police this question (rather than being secretive and hiding away from them)?

(Posting Hx, folks ;))

It might say "all records" or it might limit them by date, size, sender, receiving party, etc. And they won't get ongoing alerts with most search warrants un less we're talking about a wiretap of some kind that might include a time span that the order is good for.

depends what they were looking for and what they requested for the warrant.
