computer seized

If a computer is seized because of web-based e-mail (yahoo) evidence turned in to police, can other documents possibly related to the crime found on the computer during the forensic examination, ie. word processing or spreadsheet documents, be used against the person also? Although their search was for e-mail based information. Also, why can the police get a search warrant to seize a home computer if the evidence turned in was from a web-based e-mail (yahoo) account, not a direct account?

Just a guess not having read the Warrant.
It sounds like the Warrant was issued for the hard drive and its contents.
I'll bet that the email was just the probable cause.

If the Warrant was only for the email then they will have to get another Warrant for the other files. If they have the computer in their possession then they don't have to worry about other files being destroyed while they get the second Warrant.

why would evidence eliminator be a "MUST" if you have nothing to hide?? by the way, it does not erase everything. the only true way to erase everything is to scrub your hard drive.

You are correct it does not clean the cache and other file on Netscape

But it cleans the windows swap file, free space, it cleans any file slace windows histroy, cookies, regisitry....

so you also use this shareware program as well

and if you want to get deep inside the computer you can see whats left over Purge and zero out every last deleted file in your system with this..
