Can he do it, yes.

I just don't know why he would bother.

Who are you employed by?

why would he? to teach me a lesson i suppose, or would he just say that to scare me?? i dont know what to do. i work at a school. and yes, i know what a bad example i set in making such a stupid and poor choice to shoplift. i'm just terrified b/c there are such strict ethics ruled for teaching certificates and i hope this cop doesnt choose to go through with the call that would ruin my career.

He probably is trying to scare you, and I hope it works.

If you consider "not shoplifting" a strict rule of ethics, perhaps you should be pursuing another career. Ethics are in place to weed out those who can't exercise proper judgment.

It won't be his call that ruins your career, it will be the act of shoplifting.

OK, now I know why he'd do it.

That would be "ethic rules" teacher, not ethics ruled. But it is because of these strict rules that he may indeed notify them.

You should certainly understand why schools do not hire people with criminal records to supervise & teach children. I wouldn't want to send my child off to sit and learn from a thief for seven hours a day would you?

Teachers should be roll models for our children and the act of shoplifting is not a roll most people want instilled in their child, nor the impression that it is excusable conduct.

You should also know that most of the people on this site, as well as the people you will deal with in court, will not see this as being something you decided to do for the first time. It will be seen as something you were only caught doing for the first time.

Hire a lawyer to see if anything can be done to save your career.
