disorderly charge and enterference with 911 call

What is the name of your state? IL but charges in MN

My son was arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and gross misdemeanor interfering with a 911 call this morning. The police arrested him and took him to jail until he sobered up ( he had been drinking, but was still coherent). He was told someone could pick him up. He cooperated with the police and his girlfriend, who made the 911 call told them she did not want to press charges. They looked at the apartment and saw the things he had trashed and took pictures. He had not hurt his girlfriend. She is on her way to pick him up now. I dont know what he has told the police. What should he do? What is going to happen next??

This happened to my friend when he and his ex wife split. They were in Idaho, so I don't know the difference in your laws vs theirs. He was put on "Prosecutor's Probation" for 6 months, had to take anger management classes, and then it was expunged from his record. The deal was: complete the classes, it's not on your record. A good deal, I think.

Well they added another charge now, they are charging him with domestic abuse. How can they do that?? His girlfriend is not pressing charges.

In most states, the state presses the charges whether the victim wants to or not with DV cases. There are many reasons for that. Whether he can be convicted for the charge is a different issue.

There are too many variables in that situation for anyone to be able to give you a reasonable answer as to the chances of the charges being dropped. He should consult a local attorney for that answer.
