A California prosecutor has contacted me via email looking for me to testify in court. I do not wish to be a part of this trial since I now live in North Carolina, have two kids, and want to put this painful experience behind me. Do I have to reply to the prosecutor's request? What if I say "no, I don't want to do it?"

He could have the court subpoena you. This might compel your testimony or risk arrest. Depending on how important your testimony is, the DA just might do it.

Keep in mind that he will have to pay for your travel and expenses to come from NC back to CA.

What exactly are you being asked to testify to?
