Domestic ViolenceBook AntiquaWhat is the name of your state? California 14 yrs ago, my then wife filed 2 out of custody counts of Domestic Violence. I was never arrested, the cases were dismissed. However, because of the allegations and of the police department filing the cases, these allegations are public information and viewable to the public. What legal means do I have to have these allegations removed from public viewing. In otherwords, without being arrested and or convicted of the allegations, can I have it expunged from the court system. |

However there is nothing that is going to make the record go away where it is already out there. If it is on record with some on-line background search engine, it is there to stay. The only thing sealing it might do is keep anyone from going to the courthouse and looking at the record. But, most courts and police agencies do not hold on to 14 year-old records in any easily retrievable format. And unless another criminal justice agency were looking for it, they likely would not produce it. Who is retrieving this info? - Carl
