Should i go to the police and clear my name? REally confused, don't want them to just knock at my door and say "you are under arrest" for something i didn't do. pls respond asap thx

Go see an attorney. If the police come to your door, tell them you would like to see an attorney before any questioning. If they threaten you, ask to speak with an attorney before any questioning. If they ask to search your house, politely decline and ask to speak with an attorney before any questioning.

If they....ASK TO SPEAK WITH AN ATTORNEY BEFORE ANY QUESTIONING.

Get an attorney now who will advise further.

Yes. Depending on the facts, it may even be legal.

It is highly unlikely that they will simply come to your home and arrest you. They will likely seek to interview you before that happens. But, they CAN come and arrest you if they have probable cause to believe the crime occurred and that you committed the crime. This does not mean that they have enough to convict, only that they have enough to support an arrest.

However, having investigated a lot of these, I can honestly say that we have never gone to the home of a suspect and arrested him on probable cause without their being reason to believe that he was a danger to other children or we had enough to go to trial immediately. You probably have some time.

As recommended, consult an attorney.

Oh, and if you did the crime ... well, I hope you get what's coming to you.

I concur.

I do note that even though I was a cop for a very short time, I was brought in on a lot of sex crime investigations. I seemed to have a special talent for interviewing both the victims and the suspects in such matters. (It was a small department.) Especially when kids were the ones making the statement, if I got enough detail in the original interview, when we went looking for the dirtbag...er...suspect, we already knew what we were going to do when we found him. We didn't always tell him at first, but we did have our plan and there was nothing he could have said that would have changed that plan.

The only reason I write is that part of my "skill" if you were, was to listen and talk and smile and josh with the person as though we were talking about the weather with a friendly neighbor. Victim or suspect, they never knew what I was actually thinking. Sometimes I get in that mode when I write as well. I merely accept what the OP said without judgment and say what I think is appropriate. The world can be so filled with misunderstandings and, when viewed through a different lens, simple kindnesses can look very incriminating. If that is the case, I hope things go well. If that is not the case, I hope things go very badly. In either case, I agree with Carl, I hope you get what's coming to you.
